Hoy quiero hablarte de un lugar muy especial. Vivo en Madrid, una ciudad llena de vida, cultura y tradiciones. Madrid es la capital de España y siempre hay algo interesante que hacer. Hay museos, parques, restaurantes y barrios con mucho encanto.
Cuando paseo por el centro, estoy rodeada de historia: la Puerta del Sol, la Plaza Mayor y el Palacio Real. También me gusta salir a los barrios modernos, donde la gente joven está en terrazas y cafeterías.
Para mí, Madrid es una ciudad única: es grande, pero acogedora; es internacional, pero muy española al mismo tiempo.

Spanish Grammar Focus: SER, ESTAR & HAY
Why is this important?
In Spanish, we use three different verbs to talk about places: ser, estar and hay. For beginners, this can be confusing, so let’s keep it simple:
- SER → to describe a place (what it is like, permanent features).
Madrid es grande. París es romántico. - ESTAR → to say where something/someone is (location).
Madrid está en España. El museo está cerca. - HAY → to say what exists or what there is in a place.
En Madrid hay muchos parques. En París hay una torre.

Spanish online Activities
- Write 3 sentences about your city or country:
- Use ser → “Mi ciudad es…”
- Use estar → “Mi ciudad está en…”
- Use hay → “En mi ciudad hay…”
- Adivina: Describe a city you know using ser, estar, hay (but don’t say the name). Your classmates will try to guess it!
